It would save you the time and effort of having to do household duties, and give you peace of mind that your children are well taken care of when you’re not with them. But, how much does this cost?
Caregivers, even caregivers that live in the home, are not on-demand childcare superheroes. They’re employees of your family. And just as other employees have defined working schedules, compensation schemes for overtime, and the right to private spaces and personal time to unwind, so do caregivers.
A local nanny living in Quebec earns the market price of around $20-$22 per hour. On the other hand, a foreign live-in nanny receives a minimum salary of $13.50 per hour.
But how much does it cost in total to the employer? Let’s take a look at an example from a live-in nanny in Quebec:
Salary: $13.50/hour
Working Hours: 40/week
Payment Schedule: Paid every two weeks
