Everyday care
- Adapted meals (allergies, textures, specific diets)
- Structured, predictable routines that support wellbeing
- Hygiene, dressing, transfers if mobility is reduced
- Support during moments of sensory overload
- Medication tracking per your medical protocol
- A reassuring, stable presence, day after day
Specialized care (by profile)
- ASD-adapted stimulation (positive reinforcement)
- Communication with non-verbal children (pictograms, PECS)
- Blood sugar monitoring (type 1 diabetes)
- Support and presence after a seizure
- Passive exercises per the existing treatment plan
- Collaboration with your therapists and specialists
Your caregiver is not a nurse. She follows your existing medical plan, under your supervision and that of your health professionals.

How many hours of respite, really?
The comparison speaks for itself. Here's the reality of public support versus a live-in caregiver.
A daily presence that genuinely transforms your family life — not just a few hours of pause.
What families ask us
The most common questions before taking the first step.
Can't the CLSC help me for free?
The CLSC offers an average of 2 to 4 hours of respite per week. It's valuable, but not enough to transform your daily life. A live-in caregiver means 40 to 60 hours of real support per week, under your roof, day after day.
Why recruit internationally?
The local care labour shortage is severe, and the few available workers generally don't do live-in work. An international caregiver through the federal program offers stability of 2 to 4 years minimum — exactly what your child needs: consistency.
How long before she arrives?
The full process generally takes 8 to 9 months: building the medical file, the labour market impact assessment, work permit, immigration and settling. The sooner you start, the sooner she arrives. We support you at every step.
How much does it cost?
It depends on your situation, your region, and the profile you're looking for. The caregiver's wage starts at $19/h. Quebec home-support tax credits may apply. We provide a transparent, complete quote during your free consultation — no surprises.
What if it doesn't work out with the person we choose?
Compatibility with your child is our absolute priority, which is why our selection process is rigorous. Should a difficulty arise anyway, our team works with you to find a suitable solution. You're never on your own.
Is this really legal and regulated?
Absolutely. Everything goes through the federal Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP), home caregiver stream. The medical exception applies when the child requires documented continuous care. Our lawyer-founder has legally overseen every file since 2004.

About the Schedule H program and home caregivers
The "home caregiver" stream of the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP) allows Canadian families to hire a resident caregiver when a child requires continuous care due to documented special needs. A Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) is required, but the Schedule H medical exception significantly simplifies the process for eligible families — including in normally restricted regions such as Montreal, Laval, Gatineau and Brossard.
Regency Nannies has specialized in these files since 2004. Our lawyer-founder personally builds each medical file in collaboration with your pediatrician. Timelines, conditions and eligibility criteria are set by the federal government and may change.
